Whiskey Wednesday – July 11 Edition

by Jonathan Gaby on July 12, 2017

Capital Cellars is well known for our wine, but you should also know that we have a great selection of Bourbon and spirits and is downtown Frankfort’s best place to enjoy a glass of bourbon.

Whiskey Wednesday - Kentucky Peerless Straight Rye Whiskey

This week, instead of our regularly planned flight of bourbons, we are featuring one single bourbon. We recently got this bourbon in from Kentucky Peerless Distilling, a barrel proof Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey.

This Whiskey Wednesday we are featuring this bourbon for just $15 a pour from 5-8pm.

Peerless Straight Rye Whiskey is a well balanced Rye, bolstered by sweet tones of maple, brown sugar and light citrus sweetness. Finish with a hint of oak & no burn on the throat. Due to our carefully unique distilling process, Peerless offers a smooth taste that differs from many other Ryes. Peerless Rye is a palatable sipping Rye to be savored with friends and family.

This rye is a high priced bourbon, retailing here at the store around $100.00 and by the glass it’s usually around $25 per pour.

About Peerless Distilling

“Our roots run deep into the 1880’s through the heart of Henderson, Kentucky. Our ancestor, Henry Kraver, made the famous Peerless Whiskey a regional powerhouse. After ceasing operations during Prohibition, the Peerless label has laid dormant—until now. We’ve revived is legacy, a task that we do not take on lightly. At Peerless, we are dedicated to taking the time to craft seriously superior spirits. We look forward to meeting you and sharing the Kentucky Bourbon and Rye Whiskey we’ve crafted with you in mind.

Through the early 1920s, the Peerless federally-bonded warehouses were used for whiskey storage under the armed protection of the U.S. Government.  During Prohibition, Peerless product was one of the few available by prescription for medicinal use.

The original Kentucky Peerless Distilling was Distilled Spirits Plant number 50.  Today, we are privileged to have that same number. The newly assigned DSP numbers are in the 20,000s. We are very happy to say DSP-KY-50 is our own.” – from Peerless Distilling’s website.
